Summary

I am currently doing integrative bioinformatics research at the Integrative Bioinformatics Unit (IBU, Faculty of Science, University of Amsterdam, The Netherlands). I was involved in setting up this unit, and in establishing interdisciplinary research on new approaches emerging from e-science (see VL-e project). I also act as 'superuser' of the e-Science derived from the myGrid project in the UK (University of Manchester in particular). My main biological interest is the function of DNA in its natural context, which I combine with an interest in information science and interdisciplinary research in general. My ambition for the future is to combine research and teaching on the crossroads of biology and computer science.
